Girls Weekend 2010!

Girls weekend 2010 was a blast! Ang hosted in Boise. What a fun little city! We spent most of the time chatting, shopping, and eating. We threw in a little swimming. The only thing we didn't do was sleep! No worries, I slept the whole next week and blamed it on jet lag ;)

Singing in the car!
PF Changs, so good. Remember the waiter that we tried to set up with Shana, she was right, he was Gay.
Posing for pictures at Anthropology.
Plaques that describe us best.
Ang posing for the camera, great form!

Skypeing with Tracy and enjoying Kari's chocolates. They were so good! Thank you!

Thanks girls for an awesome girls weekend. It was sooo fun, we're going to have to make it a girls week. ;) Maybe when our kids are teenagers....

Miss you!!
Jana

Someone pick a book for the book club. I think I'm ready to read something.

Kitchen

One more tip about keeping your kitchen clean. I start the dishwasher every night regardless of how full it is. I empty it in the morning while the kids are eating and then I have a place to put dirty dishes all day so they don't get stacked up in the sink.

And don't worry. Using a dishwasher is way more energy efficient than hand washing even when the dishwasher isn't completely full. Your nails will thank you.

Who all is checking the blog? Design tip!

Ang, I can't find the settings that email everyone when a post goes up on our blog. I've done it with my blog, but maybe it has to be the person who made the blog that does it?? It's under settings, you can type in everyone's email and it will email us every time there is a post.

Love the posts girls, I just moved this weekend, so I'll get on it soon. I need those design tips people!

Design Tip:
I had a lady from Arhaus furniture come out (for free) to give me a consultation and she was fabulous. She brought fabric swatches for the couch we wanted and guess what, in my house I wanted the darker couch fabric. So much different than in the store. I don't know if we'll get the couch, we have to figure out the budget first, but if we do, we'll be more confident about the color choice and how it fits in the room.
She also gave suggestions on furniture placement, colors, lighting, ect.. So, if you are thinking about decorating or buying a piece of furniture, consider having someone from Arhaus, Potterybarn, or any other home decor store that offers it, come out for free and do an in home consultation. It was fun and did I mention it was FREE!

BOGO

For all of you who feel like slummin' it with the kid's back-to-school shoe shopping (my kids ruin shoes too fast or grow out of them to spend any real money on them) I just got a coupon code to Payless Shoes. Right now they are having their BOGO sale, and if you shop online you can get an extra 20% off if you use the code 30500 and site-to-store shipping is always free. (Code expires 8/31). I like to shop them online because they always have a lot more styles than in the store.
Besides, with the extra 20% off, you can buy yourself a divine pair of shoes too!

Quick Kitchen Clean-up

I like to cook, and I love to eat, but I hate cleaning up the mess afterwards. Here are a few divine secrets I've learned.
When you begin to cook:

* Start with a clean kitchen

* Have your dishwasher empty

*Use a "Rachel Ray" garbage bowl or bag on the counter to save you 100 trips to the garbage under the sink.

*Fill your sink with hot soapy water and wash everything as you go. As soon as I empty a pot I wash it. It takes 2 seconds. If I wait until after dinner, it's all dried and crusty.

*I've heard of using a tray or a bin to carry everything to and from the kitchen table. I'm testing it out this week and so far it has saved me about 30 trips.
